Poil de carotte (The red head) 1932 - A simple but wonderful story-telling

IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023345/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2
IMDB rating: 7,6

Director: Julien Duvivier
Main Cast: Robert Lynen, Harry Baur, Catherine Fonteney

"Adapted from various stories by Jules Renard, Poil de Carotte (The Red Head) is the poetically related tale of a delicate domestic situation. The movie made a star out of its juvenile lead Robert Lynen, whose genuine red head needed no touching up by the makeup men; sadly, Lynen was killed while fighting with the Resistance during World War II and his co-star Baur was also executed by the Nazis, only a few weeks before the liberation, for reasons not clear.
The film itself is of the highest cinematic art, approaching the level of Renoir and Ozu." - http://www.allmovie.com/movie/poil-de-carotte-v38537
